WHAT IS AMERICA'S TOWN HALL MEETING?
Recently launched America's Town Hall Meeting (ATHM), is the "The Voice of Americans". ATHM was created as an apolititical, educational, inspirational tool for American citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents to use to share, with their fellow American citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents, the contents of email letters they write, and then send through ATHM, to their U.S. Senators, U.S. Representatives and declared candidates for office of U.S. President, for the purpose of strengthening America domestically and internationally. The said letters and the response to said letters are posted on ATHM for all to read. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT ALL LETTERS SENT BY THE PUBLIC TO U.S. SENATORS OR U.S. REPRESENTATIVES VIA TRADITIONAL MEANS MUST FIRST PASS THROUGH SECURITY AND CAN TAKE UP TO SIX WEEKS TO ACTUALLY REACH THE ADDRESSEE. LETTERS SENT TO ATHAM FOR EMAIL DELIVERY TO U.S. SENATORS OR U.S. REPRESENTATIVES ARE SENT WITHIN TWO BUSINESS DAYS AFTER RECEIPT BY ATHM.
Email letters are sent by the writer through ATHM
to one or more of the following:
To the writer's U.S. Senator
To the writer's U.S. Representative
To candidates for office of the U.S. President
Sample Open Letter
Open Letters are not sent to the writer's senator or representative or to candidates for president of the United States but are posted directly on the ATHM web site for viewing by all American citizens, or lawfully admitted permanent residents. These email letters address the concerns of the writer relating to real or perceived problems in America and provide possible solutions.
Are sent to ATHM and posted directly on the ATHM web site for viewing by all American citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents. These Comment Letters are written by fellow American citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents and build on the information included in the Comment Letters and agree or disagree with the contents of said letters and the suggested solutions.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE INFORMATION
ATHM gives every American, authorized to vote, the opportunity to post a written record on the Internet of the contents of email letter(s) the voter sends to his/her U.S. Senator , U.S. Representative or candidate running for President of the United States. It also provides the opportunity for the said U.S. Senator, U. S. Representative or candidate for President of the United States to post his/her reply and go on record for voters to see.
ATHM believes the total transparency provided by ATHM
will inspire all American citizens or lawfully admitted permanent residents, who are interested in their government, to become more involved by sharing their
concerns and solutions relating to their government with other Americans through ATHM.
While total transparency relates to the contents of the email letter from the voter to his/her U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative or candidate for office of the President of the United States, the said voter's name, street address, and email address are never posted on the ATHM web site. ATHM will instead replace your name with the "nickname" you direct ATHM to use. (Please see SAMPLE letter to ATHM). Also deleted from the ATHM web site will be your street address, and email address . Your state, city, and ZIP must stay on the ATHM post because the reader may need to equate your geographical location with the concern and solution you discuss in your letter to your U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative or candidate for U.S. President.
NEVER UNDERESTATMATE THE POWER OF A
CONSTITUENT'S EMAIL OR LETTER
Sending an email message to your elected official in Washington, D.C. is the fastest way to send your concerns in writing since postal mail to the U.S. Congress has slowed down considerably after increased security. You can still mail a letter, but you need to leave more lead time for inspection and delivery.
PUBLIC RECORD FOR ALL TO SEE
ATHM provides a public record on the Internet of the message sent through ATHM, to the constituent's U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative or candidate for office of the U.S. President, and also a public record on the Internet of the reply by posting the letter and the reply on the addressee's page of ATHM. A public record of the correspondence encourages all involved to be timely, respectful and to provide complete, useful information. ATHM makes total transparency available to all.
ATHM IS A WIN-WIN-WIN SERVICE
Think of ATHM as a third party conduit between constitutes and those for whom they vote including their U.S. Senator or U.S. Representative, or both, and candidates for office of President of the United State. ATHM is a Win-Win-Win service.
